A Reserva Legal é uma área da propriedade rural que deve ser mantida com vegetação nativa, conforme determina o Código Florestal Brasileiro — Lei Federal nº 12.651/2012.
É uma parte da propriedade rural destinada à conservação da vegetação nativa. Ela ajuda a proteger a biodiversidade, os recursos hídricos, o solo e o equilíbrio ambiental da região.

O que é um FRU
FRU é a sigla de Forest Reserve Unit e corresponde à conservação de uma fração da Reserva Legal de um imóvel rural (equivale a 1 hectare). Cada FRU tem identificação única e só possui um titular.

2023: Confidence crisis in the voluntary market
Investigations into the integrity of forest credits shook confidence in the voluntary carbon market. Demand for verifiable alternatives exploded.
2024: Law 15.042
Brazil created its regulated carbon market (SBCE), putting conservation and emissions at the center of the country's economic agenda.
2025: EUDR in force
The EUDR was postponed twice and actually takes effect in December 2026 for large companies and June 2027 for small ones. It requires the importer to prove the farm product did not come from deforested land, and proof requires traceable origin.

Sentinel-2 and MapBiomas. What was once viable only for large projects now works for any Legal Reserve.
